The initiative is providing 14,000 free Higher Education places to help people get back to work and upskill workers. CCT College Dublin is delighted to be involved and will be offering places on part-time Modular Skills Courses commencing early 2021.

CCT College Dublin is offering limited places for FREE or with 90% funding a range of Modular Skills Certificate and Diploma courses in the areas of IT and Business on a part-time basis. Courses hold ECTS credits from 10-30 credits. They will be delivered in an online format, providing knowledge and skills in areas where there is high industry demand as well as economic demand including Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Python programming, Networking and Strategic Business IT. The courses are highly practical stand alone programmes and may allow learners to progress onto a full qualification on the NFQ.

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD said at the launch of this initiative: “The higher education sector has responded swiftly and effectively to the challenges that have arisen over recent months. These courses will enable people across the country to embark on new pathways, or refresh or reskill in their employment. We must ensure a jobs led recovery by putting upskilling and SME supports centre stage.

€30 million of free and subsidised higher education places were announced under the Jobs Stimulus package to help get people back to work, upskill workers and build economic confidence while continuing to manage the impact of Covid-19. The funding has been approved to support to support the provision of 11,597 places on short, modular courses together with an additional 2,555 postgraduate places.

Part-time Modular Skills courses will be open to those in receipt of DEASP payments, returners to the workforce, those in employment and recent graduates. Those in receipt of DEASP payments, including PUP, and returners will be eligible to participate completely free of charge. All other participants will contribute 10% of the course cost.
