The Irish Conference on Engaging Pedagogy (www.icep.ie) is celebrating its 9th year in 2016. In 2015 CCT was proud to host the 8th annual conference. CCT has a long history with ICEP – CCT staff past and present have been instrumental in the conference organization and CCT staff have also contributed several research papers as authors at several conferences.
The International Conference on Engaging Pedagogy (ICEP) is an annual event that brings together researchers and practitioners in the field of third-level teaching in order to discuss means and methods of improving student engagement. The conference format includes standard paper and poster presentations intermingled with workshops and panel style discussions. 2016 is the ninth year of the ICEP conference series, its aim to further discussion and collaboration amongst researchers and practitioners in third level teaching and learning. In particular, the founders noticed that students appeared to be less engaged with material with each passing year. The conference is themed around one central principle – how can we as educators make education more engaging for our students?
The first ICEP conference was in 2008 and has since taken place in Maynooth University, University College Dublin, Griffith College Dublin, the National College of Ireland, the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown, the Institute of Technology, Sligo and the Athlone Institute of Technology and the College of Computing Technology. The 2016 Conference is being hosted again by Maynooth University.
Registration is now open at www.icep.ie/register.
