14th Apr 2016
CCT’s own President, Neil Gallagher will be opening and closing tomorrow’s annual HECA conference at St. Nicholas Montessori College in Dún Laoghaire.
The Higher Education Colleges Association (HECA) was set up in 1991 by four National Council of Education Awards designated colleges and has since expanded to include 15 colleges. Over the past 20 years, HECA has become the recognised voice of independent higher level education in Ireland. It has made numerous submissions to QQI, HETAC, NQAI and HEA among others and has had a significant input into the development of independent third level education in Ireland.
Neil is the 2016 HECA President, and both Neil and CCT have been active members of HECA for several years.
The conference program includes an opening address from Prof. Andrew Deeks, President of UCD and a keynote address from Mary Mitchell O’Connor, TD, Chair of Fine Gael Committee on Education. Other speakers include: Dr Dara Cassidy, Hibernia College, Dr. Dermot Douglas, Higher Education Consultant, and Mary Sheridan of QQI. Many other speakers and sessions promise an engaging, insightful and productive day for independent higher education in Ireland.
