Student Life at CCT is directed towards facilitating our students to reach their full academic potential while achieving success in their lives generally. Going to college is a voyage of discovery, which consists of more than just studying a curriculum! Student needs reach beyond the classroom. At CCT, we are committed to enhancing the student experience by offering a range of services, in addition to providing careers information, social and sporting activities. Some of these services are detailed in this section, but the services and support offered to CCT part-time and full-time students are many and varied.
This service is mainly utilised mainly by our international students. We can provide home stay accommodation with an Irish family which suits your needs and special requests. Staying with an Irish host-family when you first arrive, can help smoothen the initial culture shock and ease the process of integration, while gaining a deeper understanding of Irish society. CCT also offers advice and services on sourcing and sharing independent student accommodation around Dublin.
The warm CCT welcome can begin at Dublin airport, for our international students! We provide airport transfer to and from Ireland´s main international airport.
Although college is usually quite a positive experience, it is fraught with problems, pressures, and stress. CCT offers a confidential environment where students can explore personal issues they may encounter such as: relationships, family worries, homesickness, or academic stress. The Counselling service is provided by a professionally-registered counselling psychologist working as a consultant to the college.
Students experiencing illness or health related difficulties can avail of our health service. CCT provides a subsidised medical service, for a nominal fee per visit to a professionally registered medical clinic. CCT has an agreement with the Aungiers St. Medical clinic, Dublin 2, to provide a wide range of medical treatment services. Medical Insurance for all Non-EU nationals and EU nationals studying at the college can be arranged by CCT prior to arrival for a reduced rate.
Free Career Guidance
CCT is committed to providing a learner-centred, free guidance and information service to our students if they wish to progress further in their academic careers. The service we offer is confidential, impartial, flexible and courteous. The college is also partnered with the non-profit Irish state funded organisation – Fastrack to IT (FIT), who specialise in liaising with all levels of organisations in the ICT sector in Ireland, job recruitment, work placements and internships, and professional career guidance.
Information and Publications
The Student Office at CCT is an information hub and is always accessible for general, practical, industrial and academic information. A course-specific Student Handbook is distributed to all registered students, which presents all of the course and college information they need to get started, along with practical information regarding college life, and Dublin in general.
Student Development Programme
Our Student Services Department offers a range of workshops and seminars throughout the academic year for students relating to such relevant subjects as: Stress Management, Effective Study skills, Communication skills, Life skills, and Exam Techniques.
Sports and Social Programmes
We are always delighted to expand the range of clubs and societies at CCT, as determined by student demand. Opportunities for participation in sport and recreation at the College can be provided in nearby facilities. Facilities may include soccer, cricket, swimming, badminton, basketball, indoor soccer, GAA, and a Gym.
Moodle at CCT
The open source Course Management System that is Moodle was launched at CCT in
September 2006. Students can access course notes of full and part-time courses,
past exam papers, sample assessments, and conduct various online exams and
assignments in relation to the course material they are studying. Students can also
keep abreast of important social and academic dates in the semester schedule with
Moodle. Moodle provides another online tool to supplement class learning at CCT.
