City & Guilds Diploma in ICT Systems Support – CCT106

Course Audience
This full-time programme is ideal for any learner with an interest and motivation to embark on a Computing career, specifically within the areas of Networking and Systems Administration.   It provides a strong introductory foundation to these pertinent, practical areas with the field of Computing and Information Technology.  No pre-requisite knowledge of Networking and Systems Administration is required to commence this course.

Course Overview
The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of Diploma in ICT Systems Support, is to provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive introductory foundation and understanding of the area of ICT Systems Support.  It is envisioned that graduates will be able to fulfil a wide range of entry-level roles within the area of Systems and Network Support, and/or engage in further study in a wide range of areas within ICT Systems Support at undergraduate level and specifically progressing onto the City & Guilds Advanced Diploma in ICT Systems Support.

Course Content
This programme is delivered over 2 academic semesters, 1 academic year:

 Semester 1

  • Customer Support Provision
  • Maintain ICT Equipment and Systems
  • Install, Configure and Test ICT Networks
  • Install, Configure and Maintain Software

 Semester 2

  • Install and Configure ICT Equipment and Operating Systems
  • ICT Repair Centre Procedure
  • ICT Systems Monitoring and Operation
  • Testing ICT Systems

Assessment
CCT will utilise a variety of assessment methods to help ensure that the learning outcomes of each subject will be achieved, for example:  Written Examination compiled of long or short term essays, Objective Tests, Presentations, Group Projects, Practical Assignments, Oral Examinations and so on.  Assessment will be continuous throughout each module, with final examinations administered in most of the modules.

Accreditation
This programme is awarded by the globally recognised awarding body, City & Guilds.  This programme is also included on the Irish Dept of Education & Science, Internationalisation Register.

Duration / Commencement dates
One academic year.  CCT usually commences full-time programmes over 3 intakes per year:  February, May and September.  Please contact CCT directly for the next Commencement date

Medical insurance for Non-EU nationals is compulsory and as part of the Irish Student Visa requirements and can be arranged by CCT for an additional fee of EUR100 for 12 months
