Course Audience
This full-time programme is ideal for any learner with an interest and motivation to embark on a Computing career, specifically within the areas of Networking and Systems Administration. It provides a strong foundation to these pertinent, practical areas within the ICT sector. It is advisable to complete the City & Guilds Diploma for ICT Systems Support, before commencing this follow-up programme.

Course Overview
The overall aim of this programme leading to the award of Advanced Diploma in ICT Systems Support, is to provide its learners with the necessary theoretical and practical skills, knowledge and competence, to gain a comprehensive foundation and understanding of the area of ICT Systems Support. It is envisioned that graduates will be able to fulfil a wide range of entry-level and junior roles within the area of Systems and Network Support, and/or engage in further study in a wide range of areas within ICT Systems Support at undergraduate level. It is ideal for those candidates who want to install and support ICT systems, want career progression within the ICT industry, those who wish to build on the skills and knowledge acquired at Diploma level.

Course Content
This programme is delivered over 2 academic semesters, 1 academic year:

Semester 1

  • Customer Support Provision
  • Plan for the Delivery of ICT Support Services and Assist in the Acquisition of ICT Systems
  • Install, Configure and Integrate Networked Hardware and Software
  • Install, Configure and Upgrade ICT Software
  • Maintain ICT Equipment and Systems
Semester 2

  • Implementing an ICT Systems Security Policy
  • Principles of Planning Telecommunications Services
  • Develop ICT Technical Documentation and Procedures
  • ICT Systems and Network Management

Assessment
CCT will utilise a variety of assessment methods to help ensure that the learning outcomes of each subject will be achieved, for example: Written Examination compiled of long or short term essays, Objective Tests, Presentations, Group Projects, Practical Assignments, Oral Examinations and so on. Assessment will be continuous throughout each module, with final examinations administered in most of the modules.

Accreditation
This programme is awarded by the globally recognised awarding body, City & Guilds. This programme is also included on the Irish Dept of Education & Science, Internationalisation Register.

Duration / Commencement dates
One academic year. CCT usually commences full-time programmes over 3 intakes per year: February, May and September. Please contact CCT directly for the next Commencement date

Medical insurance for Non-EU nationals is compulsory and as part of the Irish Student Visa requirements and can be arranged by CCT for an additional fee of €100 for 12 months
