Course Audience
There is no experience required for this course. If trainees are competent Microsoft Office users this is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
Course Overview
This course aims to familiarise users with the Internet and safe emailing practices. It aims to teach participants how to make the most of the incredible resource. As a new media the internet is emerging at enormous speed with far reaching consequences for business and home users. To make the most of this resource, net users advance from basic web surfing to mastering the use of search engines, to be able to link and locate specific sites, and to become aware of internet traps, how to protect against viruses and understand common internet terminology such as URL and Hyperlink. Attendees will also learn to use email and directory services.

Course Objectives
On completion of the course students should be able to surf the web with ease, and take advantage of the certain tools provided by the internet browser they are working with. Users will know where to search for information, and how to narrow their searches down to specific regions to find out certain pieces of information. Students will no longer have to worry about downloading files from specific locations on the web, as they will know what is safe and what is not, as well as understanding the implications for viruses and security. The course explains how to be able to use IRC, understand e-commerce, and access online seminars and related information.
